Original Acrylic Painting on Canvas by Jacob Secrest
Backstory: At the beginning of 2022, I was looking for some small job a couple of times a week to get me out of the house for a bit because I was going a bit stir-crazy. That’s when miss Emi told me the art teacher at her elementary had left and they hadn’t had art for awhile. I looked it up and it was only a couple days a week, and even though it was more hours than I wanted cause it was 2 full school days, I figured I could do it for the last few months til the end of her school-year. Plus Emi really wanted me to do it!
For one of the projects I did with the kids, I ordered one 30”x40” large canvas for each grade to paint til the end of the year. In each class, I’d have a group of 4-5 work on the large painting while the rest works on something else. I went over some of the famous artists, and I chose a painting from various artists for each grade to paint. The artists I picked for each grade were K-Jackson Pollock, 1st-Vincent Van Gogh, 2nd-Georgia O’Keeffe, 3rd-George Seurat, 4th-Pablo Picasso, 5th-Edgar Degas, and 6th-Claude Monet.
Within the first week of starting these, I realized it’s pretty hard for the students to paint from just a photo. So I decided I’d do a 12”x16” painting of each grades’ painting for them to reference. With mine, they could more easily see brushstrokes and paint thickness. It’s also always a very good education for me when I do a master’s study. Each time I’ve painted one, I learn so many new things about colors, design, and techniques. Now that school’s ended and they’re no longer needed as a reference for the students, each of my 7 pieces are available.
Note: This piece is priced unframed. I’ve ordered frames for each of these pieces that I think look really good with them, and I can frame it for an additional $150. Message me before purchasing if you want it framed!

Having suppressed painting for many years in pursuit of my education and supporting a young family, I have rekindled my love for art when I painted an “Umbrella Girl” painting for my daughter and saw the joy and excitement in her eyes.
